Black Cats fans in South Africa will have the chance to watch this weekend’s derby with a Sunderland AFC legend.
SAFC legend, Kevin Ball, has travelled to Cape Town in South Africa as part of the club’s participation in the Barclays Premier League Live event in the “Mother City”.
Fans of the beautiful game in South Africa will get the chance to see the Sunderland legend and watch BPL matches live on a giant screen at Camps Bay High School on 19 and 20 March 2016 – all for free.
This includes Sunday’s Tyne-Wear showdown at St James’ Park between Sunderland AFC and Newcastle United, one of the biggest derbies in world football.
Kevin said: “It is one of the biggest games of the season in our calendar and to be joined by our fans in Africa will be an incredible experience and I can’t wait to see what sort of atmosphere they will create.”
BPL Live Cape Town will be the third staging of the football roadshow that started in South Africa in April 2014 at Zoo Lake Sports Club, Johannesburg, for a memorable inaugural event which Sunderland AFC also attended.
The Black Cats took centre stage at the event last time round in Johannesburg, proving popular with its range of exciting and interactive challenges, so much so that that Premier League legends Robbie Fowler, Marcel Desailly and former Sunderland player Benjani all joined in with the challenge, to differing degrees of success.
Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director at Sunderland AFC, said: “Our visit back in 2014 was a huge success and we are honoured to be coming back. It will be great to meet and interact with our fans in South Africa, a country which we have a close connection with.”
